T4 high speed tool steel:
· Tools steels are mainly used for manufacturing tools used in
machining plastics, metals and woods. However, tool steels must be
fabricated into the desired shape before they are able to be used.
They have good toughness, wear resistance, machinability and
resistance to decarburization.
· T4 tool steel is a high speed, tungsten type tool steel. It is a
deep hardening alloy capable of Rockwell C 64 hardness.

Preheat to 843 C (1550 F) and then heat rapidly to 1274 C (2325 F).
Hold parts for 2 to 5 minutes at 1274C (2325 F) and then quench in
oil, salt bath or air.
Forge at 1149 C (2100 F) down to 968 C (1775 F). Do not forge below
968 C (1750 F).
Anneal at 885 C (1625 F) and slow cool at a maximum of 4 C (40 F)
per hour in the furnace.
Temper at 538 to 593 C (1000 to 1100 F).
Generally used as cutting tools, broaches and cold extrusion
